Pictures

I think that I had the most talented photographer at Picture People today. For some reason, my kids get very excited to get their pictures and once we get there they do not want to cooperate at all. It didn't help that today we showed up at 10:30 as a walk-in and they couldn't get us in until 12:15. For how much waiting we did, the kids did very well. The lady would tell them what pose she wanted to do. Robbie would listen for the most part, but Lauren would do something completely different. Watching her take the pictures I didn't think that she would have hardly anything turn out. I was very shocked to view the pictures and find way too many that I really liked! Especially, I was surprised to see so many of Lauren's improvised pictures turning out. Hope you like....

Happy 4th of July!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

I hope that everyone had a Happy 4th of July! We had a wonderful one. Since Rob's been working around 15-18 hours a day, 7 days a week for such a long time now, we were very excited for him to have a day off. I'm sure he would have rather been home sleeping but we very much enjoyed spending time with him.

The kids have been counting down to 4th of July for a long time. They were very excited for the day, but mostly excited because mom bought water balloons. We started off our day and a ward breakfast at the park. What better way to start the 4th, than with french toast loaded in strawberries, bananas and whip cream! Yum yum!

The main part of the day was spent with slip n' slides, water balloons and a delicious bbq. Rob bbq'd hamburgers, hot dogs, and bbq chicken and I made potato salad, macaroni salad and fruit salad. It was delicious, and definately too much food for a family of 4. At least we get to enjoy the leftovers. I also made some ice cream cupcakes for dessert!

I'd talked to a lot of people about Redondo Beach fireworks. Most said they are really good, but they normally dont go because of parking problems. Parking fills up early and so most people just stayed home. I really wanted to see fireworks, but I didnt want to deal with finding a parking spot so Rob and I decided to buy tickets for reserved seating in Redondo Beach Lagoon. These tickets included a parking spot, shuttle and a spot on the sand right in front of where the fireworks were being set off. I am so glad we did this! We had a lot of fun watching fireworks and the kids got to get messy in the sand. They also had a live band, crafts for the kids and a fun little science area to learn about how magnets work. Lauren and I spent some time in the craft area make a crown and dancing on the dance floor. Robbie and I spent time in the science area and making him a 4th of july drum.

We had in all, about 3 hours to wait for the fireworks. The kids did great and had a lot of fun. Unfortunately, we were so busy during the day that Lauren missed her nap. Fireworks were at 9:30 and she promptly fell asleep at 9:20. Fireworks started and there was no waking her up! Luckily Palos Verdes and a fireworks show off in the distance at 9 so she was at least able to see some fireworks.

The firework show was fabulous! I really like fireworks. They were played to patriotic music and it was wonderful having front row seats. I loved the finale of fireworks...and then...more fireworks started! It was a great surprise. The real finale was even better! All in all, we had a wonderful 4th of July!
