Deck of Me- Week 11: Your Initial

Here's my initial! The letter M. :) I really liked how this card turned out. I just used paper, a brad and stamps but I think it all came together nicely. "M" describes me perfectly because "M" is for Melissa and as my son Robbie noticed, "M" is for mom. So, here is my "M" for Mommy Melissa!!

Deck of Me- Note to Self

For my note to self card, I wrote: Cherish the beauties of life. There are so many little beauties of life that are so often un-noticed because we are so busy with our day to day life. This week, I want to take a moment in my day and escape all the craziness to realize all of the beauties that are around me. The beach, sunshine, flowers, mountains, singing birds.... so many beautiful things. I remember when I went to Germany with my sister. We were a little stressed because we were having a hard time finding where we were going. All of a sudden a really cute girl with down syndrome hopped off her school bus in front of her house. Before running to her front door she smelled just about every single flower in her garden. I never forgot this. She took the moment to not just cherish one beauty of life, but she cherished every single beauty from the bus to her doorstep. I really want to take more time to do this because we are surrounded by so many amazing things!

Deck of Me- Week 9: What Inspires Me

This card didn't scan in as clear as I would have liked it to. This weeks card was on what inspires me. What really inspires me in life is happy people. I love happy people. I have met a few people in life who are the kindess, most happy people that I have ever met. They always have a smile on their face and they always have something nice to say. This is how I want to be. I am nowhere near it yet, but they inspire me daily to be a little better and be alittle kinder to those around me. I originally didn't have any of the lace on this card, but I just think lace is fun. It definately makes the card much happier!

Week 8: Something I Miss

This weeks card is something I miss. I was trying to think about the different things that I miss. There are a few different things but the one thing that really stood out to me was my family. I love my family (mom, dad, brother and two sisters) very much. Through the years we have had a lot of fun times together! Being married and starting a family of my own, I find it more and more difficult to spend time with my extended family. Now that we are all around the country (parents are in florida) it gets very difficult. I wish I could see them every weekend, but realistically, it has turned into just a couple times a year. For my card, I stamp it with time and together because I truly do miss the time that we have had together and wish that I could have much more of it!!

Week 7 deck of me: Shoes

I love this picture! Lauren loves anything that has to do with dressing up! Whether she's wearing her princess dress and crown, wearing jewelry, or wearing her mommy's running shoes. Whatever she is wearing she feels beautiful! I was doing some cleaning one day and came into the living room to find Lauren trying on my running shoes. She normally tries to wear my high heels so I was grateful because running shoes are a lot less dangerous for her to be romping around in! So, for my shoes card, I thought it would be very fitting to use this picture of Lauren wearing my shoes!

Deck of Me- Week 6: Love

Week 6 of the deck of me challenge is love. What do I love? I love so many things it took me awhile to narrow it down. When I was finished putting the kids to bed one night, Robbie came out of his room and said, "I forgot to give you hugs and kisses!" Oh, how I love hugs and kisses. It's one of my favorite things about having kids. Robbie refuses to go to bed at night until he gets them. So, for this card, I have definately decided, that I LOVE hugs & kisses!! I used stamp sets to create the background of the card... another thing that I love. :)

Week 5: Use some ephemera from your week

Alright, week 5's card is to use some ephmera from my week. I looked at many definitions of this word and found one that said postcard or card. So, I found it very fitting that this card is for the week of both my son and daughters birthday. So, for this card, I cut apart a birthday card to use for my embellishing. She is already two years old, and Robbie turned 4!! I can't believe how quickly they are growing up.

Falling very far behind!

Wow, I seem to be falling further and further behind on this blog! Life has been crazy recently, to say the least! Rob is in Romania right now for a film festival. I am so jealous! I would love to go back to Romania! Having him away seems to bring challenge after challenge! :) First our house got grafittied! Last week my car got broken into! How crazy is that? Smashed the back windows completely out! Every day brings a new adventure, I guess. Poor Lauren, decided that she was a big girl, and that she could climb out of her crib by herself. Well, her face proves otherwise! :) She's sure proud of her war wound, though! I guess thats what matters.

So, without giving too many excuses...i'll be back soon! I have 6 cards done and ready to post, I just have to figure out how to work our new scanner! As soon as that happens, I will get them posted on my blog. Maybe one day, i'll be so on top of things that i'll actually post the correct card the week it is announced!
