I AM

Well, here is my third card! Well, as everyone knows, my husband Rob has been living in Utah since October for work related reasons. (I am in Los Angeles) I miss him soooo much! It has been really hard being apart, but it has also made me realize much deeper how important he is to me and my love for him has grown. Fortunately, this long wait is coming to an end and he'll be home on Saturday. In honor of his homecoming, and in honor of my love for him, I found it fitting that this card be for him. And so, for this weeks card, I chose the topic I AM IN LOVE. Because I truly am, deeply in love!

What is powerful to me?

It was time to get ready for bedtime, so I sat down with my kids and started reading them a book. The book that I picked up was "How to become a Pirate." In this book Young Jeremy Jacob is plucked from obscurity while innocently constructing a sand castle and is thrust into a brand-new life as a pirate. Captain Braid Beard and his crew recognize Jeremy as an exceptionally talented digger and they happen to be in desperate need of a digger to help them bury a treasure chest. Jeremy thinks a pirate life sounds like fun, as long as he’s back the next day in time for soccer practice, and so he goes along with the ragtag group of seafaring thugs (with hearts of gold, naturally). And while Jeremy adores the pirates’ lack of table manners and opposition to vegetables, he comes to realize that a life away from his parents lacks some of the niceties to which he’s become accustomed. Nobody tucks him in at night, for instance, and the only book available to read is a treasure map. Well, Robbie got really excited while reading this book and we talked about Pirates, we used pirate voices and we played with pretend swords. How amazing is a thing such as a childs imagination. For Young Jeremy Jacob, because of his imagination he became a pirate. With a little bit of imagination, Robbie could become a Pirate too!

If I were asked to explain to someone what imagination was, one of the strongest words I would give it is "Powerful". So, for my card today....what is powerful to me...I would say a child's imagination.

I made a little cover for the card today because I like to think that when Robbie is at the beach, that maybe sometimes he is thinking how neat it would be to be a pirate!

This is the front of my card. I put the words explore and discover on it, because I feel that is exactly what a child is doing when they are using their imagination.

I like this quote. "The world of reality has its limits, the world of imagination is boundless!!" If that doesn't scream POWERFUL, I don't know what does! How amazing to have such a thing as imagination where there are no limits that you can be who and what you want to be, even a Pirate.

My 52 card tin

I have decided to decorate a tin to hold my 52 cards. My son is sick today and taking a nap, so i've had time to get creative. It sure feels good to be using my scrapbook supplies!!! I need to do this more often. Thank you Emily, for this great idea that is getting me back to doing something I love! Well, here it is:

The top pictures shows it put together and the bottom picture shows the top and the bottom pieces. Two more cards to go and i'm caught up. I'm excited to find out what is next!

Oh, how I love Saturdays!

I love saturdays! I love sleeping in. I love staying in my pajamas until noon. I love hanging out all day doing nothing really, just because its Saturday, and I can! This saturday is a happy saturday! Today is the final showing of Der Ostwind at the 2007 Sundance Film festival! Rob and his parents are lucky to be there for that showing. I'm jealous that i'm stuck here in California!! I am so proud of Rob!

Just recently Der Ostwind was made available for download on itunes for $1.99!! Exitingly, if you do you search, it has made number 4 on the top ten list of Top Short films. Even coming above of a few Pixar shorts! They been given some great reviews:

Terrific innovation & inspiration *****

What a beautiful marriage of form and function! I love this film and have never seen anything like it before. The narration is poetic and provocative, the animation/live action mix is beautiful and equally poetic. Bravo!! If only Sundance had more this good!

Magnificient *****

At a time when three hour movies do so little to move you, this refreshing short film is full of chivalry and honor. Would that wars could still be fought with respect. Breathtaking cinematography (I’d love to see it on the big screen), clever score, magnificient film!

The True Price of Honor *****

This is an excellent film about the importance of honor, regardless of who you are or what you represent. The fusion of live action and animation is amazing. Additionally, telling the story of a German WWI hero in Germany is Brilliant.

Der Ostwind *****

One of the best shorts that I have seen. Honor- is something that we don’t see to much in todays world.

So, if you get a chance and want to see his film, you can dowload it at i tunes! Or you can visit www.derostwind.com to view the trailor!

I am so proud of Rob and the skills that he has. And mostly....I'm excited for him to move back home next week. He's been gone since October!!

something you are proud of...

Well, I'm a few weeks behind, but here is my first attempt at a blog! I had dinner with the Hippen's the other night and Karalenn showed me this fun idea that Emily had with the 52 cards. Right away I starting thinking about different things that I could do but nothing clicked. I call myself a scrapbooker, but yet...I am years behind and don't get much time to do it! With two kids life can be pretty crazy. Robbie started preschool this week. He is now out of the house 4 hours of the day!! The first day I cried. This was my baby, and my baby really wasn't a baby! He was starting school!!!

This made me really think about both Robbie and Lauren and realize how happy they make me! They are growing up just how I would hope they would grow up. So this sparked an idea....something I am proud of? I am so so so very proud of Robbie and I am so so so very proud of Lauren. There is something very special about having children and I feel proud and blessed to be their mom. They are both very special children and I love them very much. With that said, here are the front and back images of my card!
